[UPDATE 1:06 p.m.] Officer Shot in Crescent City Near the High School; Streets Blocked Off

Breaking news graphic Information is just coming in that an officer has been wounded and a suspect taken into custody this morning in Crescent City. Washington Blvd and Lafayette Way are both blocked as an investigation is underway.

From scanner traffic, we know that the officer was shot in the shoulder about 10:20 a.m. near the 100 block of Lafayette Way.

UPDATE 11:15 a.m.: The suspect was also shot, according to scanner traffic at approximately 10:25 a.m.

Hopefully the officer was a better shot. speedy recovery. Shoulder is close to the head glad it wasn’t worse.

Thank you officer for putting your life on the line for our better sake. You are a hero and a bad ass. Thats how its done didnt have to depend on the public to save them. Like that cop a week or two ago on that domestic call.

I heard the gunfire, at least 30 shots, maybe 40. Rumor is that it was some people from Eureka involved in the shooting.

Prayers going up for the officer shot, his family and colleagues. It takes incredible courage to serve in law enforcement these days. All of the law enforcement family needs our support and prayers on a daily basis. So relieved they were able to arrest the perpetrator!
