OMG!, two today.
Its going to be a long summer up there with all the construction going on. Ruth lake not going to be so busy? I hope.
I used to enjoy going home the back way on 36. Now I avoid it like the plague.
Bad start to summer (21st) already.slow down just a bit. Be safe all.
Flatlanders
Can you be more specific about the area? There are a few construction zones on Hwy 36 right now and mile markers don’t really mean much to me. (I’m kinda dumb that way) I was almost rear ended twice in the construction zone just West of Dinsmore. Once when I slowed down for oncoming traffic and once when I had to stop for a deer in the road. Both pick-ups passed me on blind corners because they wanted to drive way faster than I was going and apparantly couldn’t wait until I had a safe place to pull off the road. I’m pretty sure those arrogant drivers won’t be reading this post, but for those of you that are, please say a prayer for travelers to be safe on that road. <3
More than likely in the Narrows up above the church camp
How about pulling over?
I saw tracks going over the side going down the McClellan grade in front the flagger with the stop sign. They were laying down asphalt about halfway down. I’m guessing they went over the side to avoid taking out the road crew.
Some idiots wait til the last possible second to try to slow down, in spite of all the warning signage everywhere!!! Others like to pass you even if you’re going the speed limit or 5 over as was the case today for me!!! Lucky for them it was the end of a passing lane & no one else was in the other lane!!! These incidents are just further confirmation of my longstanding theory, that there is a CDL in every box/bag/WTF ever of Cracker Jack snacks, as the Toy Surprise!!! This theory is mine alone & YMMV!!!
Observed green pickup pulled over in flat spot just above construction area, I commented to son and grandson that they probably had hot brakes from overuse on the steep grade, and lo and behold while just being released by stop flagger the said truck with engine screaming from over winding slammed into the slope alongside us to avoid hitting in the motorcycle and vehicle behind my boat and rolled down the fill slope just as we passed the stop flagger. Didn’t stop as workers and others were already responding. Glad No one was seriously injured. Lesson for those who travel this route that your brakes better be in good shape and you must use a little aution. I know because I used to travel this route to work every weekend.
