Put away those swimsuits and picnic baskets, the weatherman predicts rain will fall late on Wednesday or early Thursday over much of the Emerald Triangle. Then showers are possible on Thursday and Friday.

According to the National Weather Service,

A change in the weather pattern will occur later this week, but until then weak high pressure will take hold of the forecast through Tuesday leading to a typical summertime pattern. Look for warmer temperatures for interior regions while coastal areas generally remain under the influence of the marine layer. The change in the forecast will either come late Wednesday or early Thursday as a large low pressure system pushes a front into our region.
