Testing New Traffic Signal in Cutten on Monday

Press release from Humboldt County:
Humboldt County Seal 2017

On Monday, June 5 the Humboldt County Department of Public Works will begin testing a new traffic signal at the intersection of Walnut Drive and Fern Street in Cutten. The traffic signal will become fully operational on Tuesday, June 20, the week after most schools are out.

The new traffic signal was previously scheduled to become fully active the week of June 12, however, with an anticipated increase in increased traffic at that intersection due to end of the school year activities, the department decided to wait and schedule a “slow start” instead.

This is a 12-year old project that was initiated by community concerns. Former 1st District Supervisor Jimmy Smith began the project. Funding was secured in the past, but was taken away during the recession. Current 1st District Supervisor Rex Bohn worked with the Department of Public Works to re-start the project.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the process of increasing safety along this important corridor.

If you have questions, please contact Construction Engineer Angi Sorensen with the Department of Public Works at 707-445-7448.
