K-9 Helps DTF Locate Heroin at Fortuna Residence
This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On 05-23-17 at around 10:00 A.M. Special Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a residence in the 2600 block of Boone Street in the city of Fortuna.
When the warrant was served Agents located the resident, 51 year old Laurie Potts. With the assistance of Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detection K-9 Ella, Special Agents located 35 grams of suspected heroin. Two digital scales, packaging materials along with pay and owe sheets were also located during the search.
$3,200.00 in U.S. currency was located and seized as it was believed to be proceeds from illegal narcotics sales. Laurie was arrested for possession of a narcotic, possession of a narcotic for sale, maintaining a residence for the purposes of selling narcotics and violation of probation. She was subsequently booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for the above listed charges.
