Thank you for defending this man. He was a great and happy guy, and yes…he was troubled, but that doesn’t have anything to do with his fall!

In earlier reports some of the commenters were saying that he was shot in the back twice by what the witnesses said when they found the body but being shot in the back twice is considered non Foul Play in Humboldt County

I think they were referring to another case.

No. As I recall, the women who found the body (one of them) said that they thought there were ‘2 gun shot wounds to his back’. Didn’t go back to read the original story. Relying on my memory here (a dangerous thing to do sometimes).
‘Pen’ has another theory…..

What they thought were gunshot wounds could very well have been bites from scavenger birds.

Probably puncture wounds from the fall, not gunshots.

Is this the same place that a woman fell to her death and wasn’t found for a long time?

Another lost soul in HUMBOLDT. The cliffs around here are for sure treacherous if your not familiar with the terrain. My heartfelt condolences to his family.🕊

Poor guy died on vacation, probably. Hell of a way for it to end and bad for his family who were waiting at home for him. RIP Eric.

I just looked on LOCO and saw a link to several mugshots of Eric that were posted. So he wasn’t on vacation, but it’s still so sad. Someone somewhere cares about him and will be devastated.

Its pretty easy to slip off those cliff edges, especially with soggy slippery ground. The river is pretty intense rite now as well, who knows if he fell there or upriver.
Not everything that happens here is a result of foul play, tho fear mongerers like to make it sound like it is. (ie john chiv).
RIP, condolences to the family and friends. No matter his societal wrung, im sure he was loved.

Our hearts are with you courtney. Eric was like family to us. Your dad was clean and getting better. I would tell you more, but this is too public.

A troubled past and mugshots are irrelevant. He had a big heart and a smile that could brighten even the worst day. I met Eric in 2008 while going through a tough time myself. We became close friends almost instantly and spent a summer together adventuring Massachusetts and Vermont, but life had other plans for us and soon after he went out west and we lost touch. I was so sad to hear this news. Condolences to his family. I know he loved his children very much. I heard of them often. Fly high Eric. RIP ❤ I’ll cherish the memories.
