Man Being Searched Allegedly Attempts to Swallow Stash

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Humboldt County Sheriff badgeAfter a month’s long investigation Special Agents with the Drug Task were granted a search warrant for 42 year old Tito Bryant, his vehicle and his residence located in the 500 block of H Street in Arcata.

Yesterday at 5:00 P.M., Agents located Mr. Bryant driving his vehicle in the Arcata area. With the assistance of a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Deputy a traffic stop was conducted at a gas station located on Samoa Blvd. in Arcata.

Once Mr. Bryant stopped his vehicle, he fled the area on foot. The Deputy and Special Agents gave chase as Mr. Bryant ran south on Samoa Blvd. As Mr. Bryant turned to run north on K Street two unidentified citizens tackled him, holding him on the ground. Within seconds the Deputy and Special Agents arrived and detained Mr. Bryant in handcuffs.

After he was detained it was evident that Mr. Bryant was having a difficult time breathing. Upon closer inspection Special Agents could see Mr. Bryant was attempting to swallow narcotics. Mr. Bryant was unable to swallow the narcotics and spit them up. In Mr. Bryant’s mouth was approximately 16 grams of suspected heroin and approximately 1 gram of suspected cocaine.

Due to the fact that the Special Agents did not know if Mr. Bryant had ingested any narcotics he was transported to the hospital for an examination. While he was being examined at the hospital Special Agents served the warrant at Mr. Bryant’s residence.

Inside the residence they located an additional of 14.2 grams of suspected heroin and 1.6 grams of suspected cocaine.

After being medically cleared Mr. Bryant was arrested and booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for possession of a narcotic for sale, transportation of a narcotic, tampering with evidence and resisting a peace officer.

Anyone with information related to this investigation or other narcotics related crimes are encouraged to call the Humboldt County Drug Task Force at 707-444-8095 or the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 707-268-2539.

Jeeez you would think that the money it takes to run investgations would be better spent on some one with ounces or pounds of the narcotics. Grams? I think my tax dollars should be spent looking for his supplier.
