Travelers Should Expect Some Delays on 101 at Slide North of Leggett
Planning on driving on Hwy 101 at Bridges Creek north of Leggett where the slide came in and blocked the road for days this last month? Are you wondering if the road is still open?
The good news is the road is open and no one has to drive hours out of their way to get through the Redwood Curtain. The bad news, according to Caltrans, is that travelers headed through the slide area that blocked Hwy 101 for days should expect delays of up to 30 minutes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. (C’mon, admit it, 30 minute delays don’t sound so bad compared to driving for hours when the road was blocked.)
Here’s what Caltrans District 1 posted on their Facebook page,
101 north of Leggett will be experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes 7 am to 7 pm weekdays to stabilize the hillside at the location of recent rockslides and install a cable mesh system. The work may take 2-3 months to complete and reopen both lanes.

Well worth the wait. Drove around it once. I would wait for an hour if need be.
Amen! to that!
Drove right through last evening.
No delay! That is an ugly, uneven hillside that will take whole lotta work to make stable!! (Don’t think they will have the opportunity to achieve a desirable ‘angle of repose’).
better than 7.5 hours to get from Fortuna to Petaluma!
36 is a beautiful drive this time of the year. Hope to do it for fun next time.
Oh to be an entrepreneur! Get your lemonade, ice cold lemonade.
I hope all the different slides are stable by the long Memorial weekend !
