Sounds like, “At about 7:40 p.m., scanner traffic said that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle which then left the scene of the accident. The incident occurred at the foot of Del Norte Street near Railroad Avenue in Eureka. An ambulance is responding to the scene.”

It looks to me like someone got that “rundown feeling” of a magnitude that even Alka Seltzer can’t help!!!

I know the right turn on a red light facilitates driving but it has been the reason I have come closer to hitting someone than I would have ever dreamed. The problem comes from staring to the left to judge that the oncoming traffic is clear but having a pedestrian arrive at the corner while starting to turn. I can’t always manage to change my attention back to the corner while slowly starting the merge so pedestrians arriving can surprise me. Usually with hateful looks. I’ve pretty much given it up unless no traffic or people are even visible. Honk all you like but I’m just not going to risk hitting someone. It’s not a matter of who is to blame.

I hear you. Good for you. I was parked at a red light the other day and I wanted to turn right. Traffic prevented me from turning until the light changed. It changed and a pedestrian was crossing, so I waited for him to clear. The driver behind me didn’t see the pedestrian (I guess). He got impatient with me and laid on his his horn and was cussing me out the window. I lost it. I jumped out and was going to beat him to death, but he got scared and drove around me. Good thing I guess.
