Facebook post from Caltrans:

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: We’re poised to reopen *ROUTE 1* west of Leggett to one-way controlled traffic later this evening. The route has been impacted by two major landslides for 100 days.

This is NOT related to the full highway closure on U.S. Highway 101 north of Leggett.

At this time, our contractor is going through their final steps to prepare the roadway for one-way controlled traffic. Barring the occurrence of anything highly irregular, we expect traffic to be flowing on Route 1 between Leggett and Fort Bragg tonight.

Do note that while the highway will be open to controlled traffic, the road is not yet paved. PLEASE slow down when you pass through the work zone for your safety and to avoid undue wear and tear on your vehicle.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO TAKE USAL RD. PLEASE. I yell this because yesterday a very shaken man came to my work looking for a tow, he got stuck in the mud in a Honda Civic. That road is TRASHED from the weather. Even for 4x4s.

What the fuck are all the cops doing on alderpoint? This whole 101 detour is just an excuse for them to get on the hill and fuck up everyone’s year.
