[UPDATE 1:55 p.m.] Residents Asked to Shelter in Place on Kenmar Road in Fortuna; At Least One Officer With Gun Drawn

Breaking news graphicAs of 9:05 a.m., at least one Fortuna Police officer has his gun drawn at the corner of Kenmar Road and Kenwood Road. According to scanner traffic, nearby residents are being asked to shelter in place. A witness believes there are as many as four officers and two police cars. “One officer confirmed with gun drawn,” says our witness.

Sgt. Charles Ellebrecht said that this is a traffic stop where an occupant fled. Ellebrecht is attempting to find out more information for us.

According to scanner traffic, “A brief check of the vehicle located ammunition and likely firearms taken.”

UPDATE 9:21 a.m.: We’re being told that the road is barricaded at Shields Lane and Kenmar Road. Some people in the vehicle that was stopped have been detained and are being placed in law enforcement vehicles.

UPDATE 11:34 a.m.: According to scanner traffic, law enforcement has medical staged and is preparing to remove an individual barricaded in their home.

UPDATE 1:55 p.m.: The barricades have been removed and traffic is being let through. The suspect was not located.
