According to scanner traffic, a silver Jeep Cherokee and a grey Dodge pickup collided near the intersection of Broadway and West Harris in Eureka around 3:15 p.m. Emergency personnel at the scene are reporting that the southbound lanes of Broadway are currently blocked.

Update 3:28 p.m.: The Jeep Cherokee is reportedly still in the roadway. The pickup, however, is no longer blocking traffic.

Update 4:27 p.m.: Battalion Chief Kent Hulbert of Humboldt Bay Fire tells us the roadway is clear.

Yes, it does seem like there is a lot of bad driving these days. Way back when I learned to drive, the adage was when the roads are bad, slow down, and leave more space between cars.

Went to town today…visited Costco and Winco,
was fortunate enough to return home unscathed.
I’m always reminded of the song ‘welcome to the jungle’
when I visit Eureka, Costco, and Winco.
Waiting to see the next post of a roll over…..

Right on!! That portion of Broadway is a cluster -uck always. Then add lousy rain and there goes the visibility welcoming a disaster. Eureka will always have the highest 101 highway accident stats for the Commie State of Sacramento

Cell phones are a lethal weapon causing more deaths and injury than any DUI statistics!

I drive 200 miles per day between Mickyville and Rio Dell. I see cell phones and tailgating at 75 mph in the rain. We do seem to have a fair number of ‘intellectually challenged’ drivers out there.
