Press release from the Arcata Police:

On Friday April 7, 2017 at 9:45 am, the Arcata Police Department responded to a possible armed robbery in progress at the Craftsman’s Mall, located at 2905 St Louis Road in Arcata. Witnesses reported an altercation in the parking lot involving several male adults that were associated with two vehicles last seen fleeing northbound on St. Louis Rd.  Two males were observed running westbound through the Craftsman’s Mall, wearing bandanas over their faces, and one was armed with what witnesses described as a “Mac 10” assault weapon.

Arcata Police and Humboldt State University Police Officers established a perimeter and used an APD K9 team to search the property.  Witnesses alerted officers that two of the suspects were last seen hiding in a goat pen on the west side of the property.  Two suspects were located hiding just beyond the property in the back yard of a residence in the 2500 block of Maple Lane.

A Master Piece Arms Mac 10 pistol was located discarded in the wooded area between the Craftsman’s Mall and the residence on Maple Lane.

23-year-old Florida resident, Malcom Jamel Carson, was booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the following charges:

  • PC 602.5(b)-Aggravated Trespass.
  • PC 30605(a)-Possession of an Assault Weapon.

22-year-old Florida resident Rohan Anthony Ludford was booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the following charge:

  • PC 602.5(b)-Aggravated Trespass.

Two additional subjects were detained on scene, and later released without charges.

The nature of the initial altercation remains under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Arcata police Department.

I have stepped forward to help the police multiple times and will never do it again. They endanger you. They don’t care about your safety and it’s obvious. I stepped forward to help them over the deaths of a couple arcata residents. They told me I was full of shit on my i nitial call and later found out I was the only one that told them the truth and actually helped. They conduct interviews in the field in front of people who could be involved in the crime and endanger you by doing that. Don’t help them until they learn to do their jobs properly.

Maybe due to armed out of state persons running around Arcata with weapons in daylight???

Or possibly the mulit-agency law enforcement response to protect the public from those poor misunderstood confused armed tourists?

What the hell is there nowhere to be safe anymore ? I’ve said it before .it’s seems no where is safe in our county. I guess you almost have to be a criminal to be safe against criminals .What ever happened to the right to bare arms. Time to get a concealed weapons permit .

It’s only a beginning, people come here to make money and they go back home.. in our home . This is not good, they don’t raise their kids here as we do and don’t spend the time nor money. People voted for this. . People not state. . People, .. most not from here, only to grow weed here not families. Grow in the hills go to town to sell, boo these people and get rid of em. Only if the hill people got em before apd.

Plenty of good people with families keep the health of the Earth in mind and grow the kind herb and support the local community and help people with terminal illnesses and pets, too. It’s easy to spew the kind of crap you spew but it just isn’t true.
