[UPDATE 10:30 a.m.] Structure Fire Near Broadway in Eureka

Burning structure
Humboldt Bay Fire is responding to a report of flames in a structure on the 500 block of West Del Norte in Eureka. This is southeast of Costco.

The single-story, wooden structure is showing fire at the roof, according to the first emergency personnel on scene.

We’ve got a reporter on the way.

UPDATE 10:18 a.m.: According to Mark McKenna, Currently crews are working on the cleanup. No one was inside the structure when they arrived on scene. The flames appear to have been mainly contained to the garage. No neighboring structures were threatened. The cause is under investigation.

According to reporter Mark McKenna, the fire was mainly contained to the garage. The fire sent smoke into the rest of the house but it burned mainly the garage and exterior. There were no reported injuries. No on was home. The occupants are not here but the home owner is now on scene. H

How do you know it was homeless caused ??? I read ALL of the article but coul find a damned thing about homeless people being the cause of it!!! Do you know something that the reporter on scene as well as the Fire Dept don’t about this fire????

This is someones home. Not an empty structure that homeless people might of been living in. I hope the home owners didn’t lose any pets, and are able to repair there home. I really feel bad for them.

She is quick to blame homless.. an i just had to state on her judgemental commit_. We , call em roamers.. gotta throw blame someplace. Accedents dont happend. Its the homless. Little green men next. Roumars
