DTF Pounces on Two Pounds of Meth Right After Car Crosses Humboldt County Line, Says Sheriff’s Office
This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
As a result of a three month long investigation Special Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force learned there was a vehicle traveling to Humboldt County from the Bakersfield area transporting a significant quantity of methamphetamine.
Agents secured a search warrant for the vehicle and all of its occupants. On 03-17-17 at about 0445 hours Agents spotted the vehicle traveling northbound Hwy 101 near Cooks Valley. With assistance from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Special Agents conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle near Benbow Drive and Hwy 101.
Once the vehicle was stopped Agents were able to determine the vehicle was being driven by 48 year old Joseph Garner.
They identified the front passenger as 24 year old James Johnson and the rear passenger as the registered owner of the vehicle, 49 year old Kathy Ham. All three subjects are from the Bakersfield area.
After detaining all three subjects, one of the Sheriff’s Office narcotics detection K-9 was deployed and searched the vehicle. The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the trunk and underneath the passenger seat. A subsequent search by Agents located approximately 2 pounds of suspected methamphetamine (estimated street value $14,000) along with a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol and other indications of sales.
As a result of this investigation Kathy was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale and transportation of a controlled substance. Joseph was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance and being a felon in possession of a firearm. James was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale. All three were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked and housed for the above listed charges.
This investigation is ongoing and future arrest are anticipated. Anyone with information related to this investigation or other narcotics related crimes are encouraged to call the Humboldt County Drug Task Force at 707-444-8095 or the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 707-268-2539.

Great job DTF, Getting it Before it hit the streets. May they end up in HELL.
Hell isnt real! unless you count earth. But seriously there is no god, get your head out of the clouds
I have had near death experiences that have left me certain that God and Jesus both exist. I suspect that if you were a little more observant (the cloud thing that you said to River Rat) you would know this too. Mind, body, spirit makes us whole. Don’t announce to the world that you are still searching and then insult other people for being authentic.
Yeah, i’ve had near death experiences too. There is no god. Hell is on earth. I’m really sorry you’ve spent your whole life being deceived. I’m glad you have faith, but it’s irrelevant. I’m terribly sorry…..but not really.
Please, put these citizens from Bako in a tightly sealed cell for enough time for them to think up another occupation…. Thanks to the brave and alert drug agents!
Excellent work!! Keep it up !!
Now that’s how you use a DTF!! Good work!!
Methheads-0 / Humanity-1

Awesome! Way to go! Dtf
They’re probably glad they made it to Humboldt. Our judges will let them out on Monday and let them go home. A warrant will be issued, and they will be free until arrested again.
They are probably out on OR and heading back for a new load.
great attitude zip.
good job cops, bust METH and gain respect!
Great job
good job
Lock those shit bags up
A lot less theft/tweeker bullshit
People don’t get locked up in this county. They get a place to stay and meals for a day or two, then out and told ‘Have a nice day. See ya next time’
Humboldt county jail and eel River have something in common…CATCH AND RELEASE….
Lets not be so negative. This is a good thing to remove this much meth off the streets of Humboldt. Two pounds which is 896 grams! How many acts of violence, assault, theft, and robbery did this stop?
I would like to see the DTF also go after the local labs. Especially the ones that are owned by the drug dealers. They could bust these labs and use the money from property seizures and forfeitures to pay for the clean ups and decontamination. These monies could also be used for training and equipment to process these drug sites, so we could eventually do the job with local contractors. This would save time and money.
This could solve some of the money problems and loss of funding that our police departments have had to deal with since 2012.
Excellent job DTF officers! Please keep up the good work so we can all enjoy our lives here in beautiful Humboldt county! Ah, the sweet smells of spring just around the corner!
2lbs. is actually 908 grams. Not that that matters, just saying.
454 in a real pound. 448 in a drug dealer pound.
Hammer time that’s the best plan yet .

Great Job by Law Enforcement! Maybe they will be able to see their friend from “Hemitt” in jail. Scary how much meth and weapons are being found.
Released yet and on their way to never return? Cool they got the drugs, but it will probably end there.
Bet there’s 100 times that amount right now! Still, good job law enforcement!
love it.. way to keep it REAL IN THE POLICING BUSINESS
I wonder how much the rat was busted with.
good job and pray that much
Qty. doesn’t have deep
pockets to fund mealy mouth lawyers!!!
Excellent catch! Now a bullet between the eyes. The dealing of this crap has to stop.
For three months worth of investigative work , I would be hesitant to call that a “significant” bust. Commendable effort, however.
Random pullover no doubt
Don’t slander or defimate my character cuz I am innocent and I never was read my Miranda Rights. This is the United States and I do have rights.
Everyone of you got it all wrong …he was set up…used as a pawn….bunch of bullshit really…something definately janky going on !!!!
