2016 participants listen to keynote speakers.

Attendees will hear the voices of two keynote speakers: one of whom is Jermaine Brubaker from Wild Rivers Community Foundation working with the Redwood Voice and coordinating our Service Learning Project and the other is Elizabeth Smith from the Boys and Girls Club. NYS goals are increasing youth leadership development, skill building, networking and awareness of local career opportunities.

Needle felting Fun

Youth can learn how to make felted animals at one of the workshops offered.

Wondering if this event would be fun?  Here’s what Dylan Diemer wrote about his experience:

The North Coast Youth Summit is an amazing opportunity! I have had the chance to learn about careers as well as grow as a person. From college workshops to learning about and playing with puppies that are becoming seeing-eye dogs, the Youth Summit has provided me with an amazing chance to enjoy learning. For those considering it, I would strongly recommend coming. The Youth Summit has inspiring keynote speakers and fun activities too!

raptor

One of the workshops features live birds of prey.

Still unsure?   Here’s what Jonathan Archibold wrote about his experience:

The first time I went to the Northcoast Youth Summit, I was afraid and unsure if I wanted to go.  That was three years ago. I only knew one person when I went for the first time. We entered the theater and heard a story from one of the guest speakers, It was inspiring and I haven’t forgotten the story he told. After that I met new people, and learned cool things through the workshops. One of the biggest things I took away from the summit was learning where things were on the campus. This was helpful because the first year I went to the summit was the year before I attended Academy of the Redwoods. I also really enjoyed the coding workshop.  I had so much fun that I went again and took a friend.

This year I am excited about the raptor workshop with live birds, capoeira, and martial arts.

This is a great educational opportunity. A few highlights include CPR certification for half price and a chance to learn self defense and see demonstrations from the internationally recognized masters at the famous Yang Martial Arts Academy. Every worshop looks awesome!

You know Kym, it really amazes me that a lot of the people who respond to the different stories on your site, only want to banter back and forward with other people they know will get pissed off with what they have to say.

Along comes a story they can respond to positively and you don’t hear a peep from them. It looks like they would know that the children are the future.

I’m old Kym but I can see further than my nose thank God.

So delighted to see these programs for our youth! I have missed several days of news, and am so glad I took the time to see what I missed!
