Video of the Redway Landslide Crushing Two Businesses
At approximately 11:40 a.m. today, the rain saturated hillsides of Southern Humboldt collapsed in the 3300 block of Redwood Drive near the north end of Redway.
People in the buildings at first thought a tree was falling, then that an earthquake had hit. They fled. One person fell as he left the business and struck his head receiving a minor injury.
The video shows only a part of the slide. Go here for more photos and information. Currently, power is out to approximately 2500 residents of the town and surrounding areas.
Several major roads are closed and some populated areas are without access to the outside world. Closed Roads Include: Hwy 36, Mattole, Briceland Thorn and Redwood Drive

Redway drive is closed? Do you mean Redwood?
I did. Thank you. Fixed.
Call the Donald he can fix it faster cheaper and better
He only talks to Putin. And Satan.
True!
Yeah buddyyyyy!!
Trump will build a wall around that bitch and they will pay for it believe me folks they will pay for it
John Shwartz, the owner of the buildings has no slide insurance coverage. The building is totaled. A local account should be set up tomorrow for help with donations. Please stay tuned.
Any answers yet on what the planning and building department says to this? Who the engineers are?
How this was approved with no retaining wall, readers would like to know,..
