Wow! That’s impressive!
Happy Sunday!
Gee, I wonder if it made a noise when it fell?
I was there and I distinctly heard, quite loudly, ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-owwie…Sherman
Ya think?
Wow another one bites the dust. High winds….
It’s sad to see all of these old growth trees taking such a big hit with these storms we’ve been having.
Now that’s some serious wood ! Portable sawmill here we come. Lol
Big redwoods are brittle and shatter though. That’s why timber fellers lay out a bed for them when they cut them, to minimize shattering..this one in a park will get cleared out of the roadway and lie there forever..
Glad no one was hurt.thats a good sized tree. Such beautiful wood!!
Damn global warming. That poor tree sucked up so much carbon that the strain was more than it could bear.
sad to see a grampa go down…
Grandma never did mind Grandpa going down!
Sigh.
Can Tolowa Dee-in’ Nation collect this tree?
It would be nice to know where the “Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway” is ????
In almost every news entry on this site ‘someone’ seems to think that every reader knows where these locations are.
It’s meaningless information if you don’t tell the readers where this parkway is …. is it in Northern Humboldt or Southern Humboldt, or maybe near Crescent City… or in Mendo… ????
I think it’s part of Journalism 101 to let your readers know the location of events
Its the main drag through Prarie Creek Redwoods State Park which is north of Orick/south of Klamath.
Oliver, Google is your friend. At some point, I have to assume that folks can look things up. Should I identify Eureka as near the Humboldt Bay? Should I say Garberville is 60 miles south of Eureka? When I’m talking about familiar landmarks like Richardson Grove, Ferndale, Weott, and Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway, I assume people know where they are. If they don’t, plugging the term into Google readily yields results.
I knew that xtra cord was for sumthin…🤔
