Rocks in the Road South of the Humboldt Mendocino Line

The slide not far south of the Humboldt Mendocino County line at mile marker 97.14 by Bridges Creek which is north of Standish Hickey Park threw rocks onto Hwy 101 today.

With the rainy weather, be careful. There will likely be others. However, Caltrans is on the way to clear this.

It looks like Bridges Creek slide in the background. That whole mountain slid in when I was a kid. It came in just like Carl’s slide, all at once.

Maybe time would be better spent moving rocks that taking pics?

I agree… my boyfriend and I was here.. we stopped our car to throw rocks off the road…. had people flying threw while we were trying to help so the could drive thru and not pop peoples tires

I was just informed that Wilder Ridge Road ( Ettersburg-Honeydew Road) is closed due to an active slide by Landergren Rd (2 miles South of Honeydew).

Yes. And driving at night will be extra suspenseful. I have seen small slides deposit rocks on 101 in at least a dozen places between Eureka and Laytonville over the years. And they freeze in your headlights just like the deer!
