[UPDATE ] 3.9 Quake Northeast of Redway, Followed by a 3.0
At 8:13 a.m., a 3.9 quake struck 12 miles northeast of Redway. It was 19.4 miles deep according to the Recent Earthquake report.
A second 3.0 followed about 3 minutes later. Below is a map from the Latest Earthquake site showing the two quakes between Fort Seward and Blocksburg.
UPDATE: According to Lori Dengler, Director of the Humboldt Earthquake Education Center,
This was a moderately deep quake for our area – nearly 20 miles beneath the surface which means it is likely to be felt weakly, but over a larger area than a shallow quake. The felt reports reflect population density – not nearly as many people live to the east as to the west. So Blocksburg folks – record your felt observations athttp://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/nc72759410…

Felt just a small jiggle. Heard a little squeak that got the cat’s attention and looked for moving object. Saw just a little movement from a crystal in the window. Surprised about the area of quake.
I felt it. That seems like an odd spot for an earthquake to happen.
Earthquakenews lists the six quakes near Redway in the past four years, including these latest two from this morning.

Redway’s in a very earthquake prone zone.
“Garberville, CA has a very high earthquake risk, with a total of 513 earthquakes since 1931. The USGS database shows that there is a 96.66% chance of a major earthquake within 50km of Garberville, CA within the next 50 years. The largest earthquake within 30 miles of Garberville, CA was a 7.2 Magnitude in 1992.”
It’s probably caused by fracking.
There has been unusual earth activity all over the world. The Hawaii lava flows have increased. And there has been lots is small eruptions.
I’ve been waiting to hear why it’s all my fault.
Oklahoma gets them on frack sites.
They have to shut down all the rigs in the state with a 3.5 quake.
I don’t know why either but it’s all your fault lol
I’m practically sitting on top of those red dots and I didn’t feel anything. I could have made a trip to the woodshed and not felt it.
With the wind shaking the house it was not noticeable.
I felt one of them. A sharp jolt. My clock said 8:15.
Waiting for the big one☺
Just mother nature’s way of getting people up and moving.
These earthquakes were northwest of Alderpoint, and nowhere near Redway. The closest landmark might be the Casterlin School, although distances are hard to gauge on the map shown.
Now, if these were two murders, then they would be immediately identified with Alderpoint and we’d be back in the midst of “murder mountain” nonsense. How about the famous Alderpoint “earthquake valley”?
Maybe the pot farmers are over-cultivating their plots?
