Celebrate All Things Steelhead at Arts Alive
Humboldt Steelhead Days presents the opening of a freshwater fish- and river-themed fine art show this Saturday, Feb. 4, at Just My Type Letterpress in Old Town Eureka, during Arts Alive.
The art show, organized by the Ink People Center for the Arts, is a celebration of “All things steelhead!,” like its parent event, as well as salmon, freshwater angling, river life, and water.
“I’m really excited about the variety of art in this show,” says curator Monica Topping. “We’ve got brass, wire, and steel sculptures, photography, paintings, prints, mosaics, and more. The artists really took the themes of the show and ran with them in a beautiful way.”
Artists in the Humboldt Steelhead Days fine art show include Artemio Jimenez, Augustus Clark, Byran McWaters, Colleen Clifford, Dana Ballard, David Mast, Duane Flatmo, Elizabeth Berrien, Gilbert Castro, Jack Sewell, Jim Lowry, John King, John Wesa, Julian Lang, Kathy O’Leary, Kati Texas, Lauren Lester, Lyn Risling, Lynn Jones, Matt Beard, Patricia Sennott, Raf Franco, Roberta Welty, Sara Starr, Thomas Dunklin, Tom Lurtz, and Yvonne Kern.
Just My Type Letterpress is located at 501 3rd Street in Eureka, on the first floor of the newly renovated Carson Block Building. The art reception will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. during February Arts Alive and feature music from The Heartstring Girls.
The art show will hang at Just My Type Letterpress through Friday, Feb. 10, and the final opportunity to see the show will be at the Humboldt Steelhead Days Peak of the Run dinner on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Sequoia Conference Center in Eureka.
