[UPDATE 5:22 p.m.] The Rubicon Won’t Be Crossing Into the Bay Soon

Coast GuardA commercial fishing boat, the Rubicon, is disabled five miles west of the entrance to Humboldt Bay. The crew of three is stranded aboard the 42-foot fishing vessel and requesting help.

The US Coast Guard has broadcast the ship’s position and requested nearby mariners to contact them if they are able to assist the crew.

The Rubicon is registered to a James Bishop in Eureka.

UPDATE 5:22 p.m.: The Rubicon and her crew are being towed back to shore safely.

This is my brother-in-law and he’s being towed through the jetties as I speak. First time in 10 years he’s ever had to be towed in just thankful all turned out well
