UPDATE 6:20 p.m.] Armed Robbery in Arcata

About 11:45 a.m., according to scanner traffic, an armed robbery occurred at the 76 Station in 2200 block of Alliance Road in Arcata. At this point we don’t have many details but we’ve contacted Arcata Police requesting more details.

UPDATE 12:20 p.m.: Law enforcement has detained one person by the mini golf course in Manila. According to Stormy Taylor, “It looks like [law enforcement] just had [a] witness that they brought over identify him and now they’re leaving.”

UPDATED 12:50 p.m.: Arcata Police Sgt. Todd Dockweiler tells us that they did arrest two individuals for the armed robbery. He explained, “We got a call about an armed robbery that had just occurred at 11:41 a.m.”

The clerk was able to provide Arcata Police with a vehicle description. According to Dockweiler, a University Police officer was able to locate the vehicle on Route 255 just west of Arcata. “He followed the vehicle into Manila,” Dockweiler explained. “Once there was an additional unit, they made a stop. Two individuals both detained.”

Once again the clerk came through and was able to identify the suspects. “A firearm matching the description of the one used in the robbery and cash” was found in the suspects’ vehicle, Dockweiler said. The two suspects were arrested and later this afternoon their identities will be released.
