Snow Is Not a Free Pass to Trespass, Says Sheriff’s Office

Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind those looking for fun in the snow that the Kneeland-Greenwood Heights area is primarily all private property.  Snow seekers should utilize the Horse Mountain, Six Rivers National Forest areas for recreational activity. If you do plan to recreate in the snow, please notify family and friends of where you are going and bring appropriate safety equipment in case you become lost, injured or stuck. Make sure your cell phone is charged if you bring one with you and have appropriate winter clothing.

Please remember trespassing is a crime and trespassers could be subject to citation or arrest.

Since God began it, we’ve been dividing up the planet. If you see something you want it you’ve got to put your name tag on it!

GM Hermit don’t kick no hibernating brown bears out of his cave! On the contrary, they keep him warm on these cold nights. Also, I’m piggybacking on their WiFi router.

the snow is the best time to trespass. No tracks means Nobodys home. let the winter raiding commence.

Trespassers Will Be Violated.

I would love to be able to let people play in the snow on my property. It’s too bad there are so many disrespectful people out there. People who leave garbage, cut fences, go 4×4ing tearing up the land and just doing stupid dangerous stuff, which normally I wouldn’t say anything about, none of my business. except if they get hurt on my property doing stupid dangerous stuff I can be held liable for it. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars in property taxes my family has paid over the generations.

There have been robberies and mail theft in kneeland/greenwood heights, like everywhere else, so its not a good idea to just wander around. Would you want folks just walking on your property to play?
As said above, if folks were respectful it wouldnt be such an issue. Would you like to wake up with trash all over your yard?? Cut fences? Human excrement?

If you see folks pulling d*ck moves like that, put them in their place. Why cant folks go to the cal fire spot up kneeland, its paid for with tax dollars 🙂 no one wants to curb outdoor activity but folks cant trespass, sorry!

Why can’t we just live by the Golden Rule – Do Unto Others As You Would Have Done Unto You… there is no end to the daily crappola & sabatoge by humans who pay no mind to that rule – it ruins it for the next person. One bad apple doesn’t ruin the whole bushel but when you get screwed, that one bad apple kinda does.
