A man who says he is despondent over medical issues and the death of his wife is holding a gun to his head on Hedge Rose Court in McKinleyville. Law enforcement is responding Code 3 (with haste–often with lights and sirens.) Medical personnel have been requested to stage (go to a specified area outside of the reach of possible harm and wait.)

UPDATE 11:29 a.m.: Medical was called in to respond to a man with a gunshot wound.

In 2015, Humboldt County experienced the highest number of suicides ever–43. As of yet, we don’t know how many occurred this year. (For article on suicide in Humboldt go here.)

Super sad! I read about this earlier this morning. Had hoped that he was just ‘crying out’……
Let’s all listen for others in pain, be present and available for them. As G-MAS said, the holidays are a tough time for many people.

We need better outlets for help AND assistance. There will be 9 billion people on this earth within the next few decades. We need alternative options. We should be allowed to choose our way out.
