Hay Truck Off the Road in Loleta
A semi truck pulling a trailer full of hay went off the road at the intersection of Cannibal Island Road and Eel River Drive about 6:30 a.m.
Some folks in order to avoid the traffic snarl on 101 due to a slide are using Loleta as a detour. This semi is currently off the road and not causing any problems but when a tow truck comes that could change.

UPDATE 9:30 a.m.:
According to Carol Conners, “[T]hey have the truck upright, but the hay is still in the ditch. It will probably have to be pulled out one bales at a time.”

Hope the driver is ok,did he just miss the corner
Looks like he drove until he had no traction, damn it
Now there is a tractor working on getting the hay bales out of the ditch.
Probably Clarence Holmes again
I am not sure who the driver was but the truck had Peterson Trucking on the side. Renner Ranch was cleaning out the hay from the ditch. It also looks like part of the side of Cannibal Island Road gave way.
What the hay????
Back to basics-driver is obligated to make a 90 degree turn onto Cannibal Island Road. This (DUH) involves swinging into the northbound lane aggressively to allow ample distance to make a full clean right hand turn. Unfortunately this dummy didn’t pass trucker’s school to remember the basics. As I’ve repeated said before-YOU CAN’T STOP STUPID!
Enquiring minds, Crime Stopper, want to know if your’s is an eye witness analysis; or a sitting in Mom’s basement wearing only underpants assessment.
Prof: pictures don’t lie. I’ve turned onto that roads lots of times and know how narrow it is. Back to basics-the driver was an idiot and his actions showed it.
