EPD Searches for Suspect in Interrupted Burglary
According to Brittany Powell of the Eureka Police Department, officers from her agency are searching for a possible juvenile suspect that fled after being interrupted while burglarizing a home in the 2700 block of Ocean Avenue about 12:30 p.m.
“The male suspect possibly had a firearm and fled on foot,” Powell said. A technician has been sent to the area to collect evidence.
Winzler Children’s Center was put on temporary lockdown in response. However, according to Powell, The Eureka Police officers have gone to Code four which indicates the situation is under control. “But I am not certain if [the school’s] quit the lockdown.”
“The suspect is a male 16 to 17 years of ag, about 6 foot tall with a thin build,” Powell said. The suspect has light brown hair and was wearing dark clothing. If you have any information, please contact the Eureka Police at (707) 445-1752.
