[FIXED!] Some Miranda Residents Without Water After Line Breaks

Miranda residents towards the northeast side of Miranda are without water today after a line broke about 9 a.m. (The rest of town including the two schools are fine.)

The water line broke under a road.

“It was like someone turned on a fire hydrant,” said Jason Saloman of the Miranda Community Service District.

He believes that a six inch main line burst. He said that they’ve a construction company on scene working now. But the fix doesn’t look easy.

“They are going to have to tear up the brand new asphalt,” Saloman said. At this point there is no estimated time for the water to be turned back on.

UPDATE 2:17 p.m.: They are working hard on this.

UPDATE 8 p.m.: If all goes well, Jason Saloman said, there will be water to the affected homes by 8:30 p.m. “We’ve got a full crew right now,” he said.  “Wahlund Construction has been awesome.”

One house has already been restored and, barring breaks elsewhere, service should be restored.

Saloman said not only was he pleased that service would soon be back but he was delighted that a new on/off valve that had been installed nearby a few weeks ago had kept the break from affecting the rest of the community. The high school didn’t lose its water because of the new installation from a few weeks ago, he said. “[The work we did] already paid for itself.”

UPDATE 8:36 p.m.: Saloman tells us the water is working to all customers.

When are we going to get a grant to fix the water pipes in Miranda? They are all really old and burst in various places throughout the year.
