[UPDATE 10:02 a.m.] Man With Gunshot Wounds Found South of Manila Dies Early This Morning

Breaking news graphicAt approximately 2:15 this morning a gunshot victim was found south of Manila. “A male victim shot six times,” the dispatcher tells emergency personnel on the scanner at that time.

A vehicle possibly associated with the shooting was found just east of the reported incident.

Emergency personnel later reports from the scene that a 20-year-old male is the victim. One reports, “…Medical subject is awake and somewhat coherent. He’s got a gunshot wound to the right side of his head and one to the side of his abdomen.”

Later discussion on the scanner indicates that the suspect victim went unresponsive and CPR was administered. He began breathing but had a weak pulse.

Hwy 255 was temporarily closed.

We have a request in for more information to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. (Note: Original information said the man was found in Manila Park. We’ve updated to indicate that the victim was found south of Manila.)

UPDATE 7:51 a.m.: Lt. Ken Swithenbank of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the gunshot victim is now deceased. He told us by text that the man was “located in the roadway of hwy 255. Died of gunshot wounds….No arrests made at this time.”
