A van erupted into fire at Trinidad State Beach this morning at approximately 10:10 this morning. Three people were on scene attempting to put out the fire when the first emergency vehicles arrived.

One person reported an explosion, according to scanner traffic. But that detail has not been confirmed.

The fire has been extinguished as of 10:16 a.m.

One patient, a 40-year-old female, has smoke inhalation issues and minor burns and will be transported to the hospital.

UPDATE 10:35 a.m.: According to the incident commander on scanner traffic, “[The van] has leaked gas and other fluids that may be affecting the waters.”

Trinidad State Beach? Is that College Cove?

If so, I didn’t think the beach was accessible by vehicles.

Well, the original headline/report actually said Trinidad “State” Beach, and when I Googled Mapped it, I got College Cove. Hence my confusion.
