Firearm, Drugs, Etc., Found When Burglary Suspect Captured, Says Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Ry Taylor LandenOn Thursday, November 10, 2016 at about 3:00 a.m. Humboldt County Deputy Sheriffs responded to the Moonstone Beach parking area for a possible sighting of wanted person Ry Taylor Landen (age 25) with a red, white and blue motorcycle. Landen is wanted by the Sheriff’s Office for a vehicle burglary in Trinidad.

Deputies located Landen in a green Ford Expedition along with the motorcycle. Landen initially refused to comply with deputies’ demands to surrender. Landen was eventually taken into custody without incident. During a search of Landen incident to arrest deputies found him to be in possession of a loaded firearm, burglary tools, and narcotics.

Landen was arrested on his arrest warrants and additional charges of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, possession of burglary tools, violation of probation, resisting arrest and possession of a narcotic controlled substance. Landen was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked on the above listed charges. He is ineligible for bail.

  • IF he is guilty as described, I always wonder what happened to a guy like that. Looks relatively normal; not all drugged out. If not that, nor mental illness, then what? Is there a study of this type offenders? Does it go back to the parents or community of origin? Or are there just people predisposed to have values that are skewed from those of the larger society? And can his ‘type’ be rehabilitated? What are the statistics on that? And what methods are most successful? Group work? EMDR? Tough love? Am guessing that the penal system will generally not help them.

  • He don’t look like a druggie ,and he don’t look to upset in is mug shot. The pictures are getting better .he probably likes it in there .
