Sheriff’s Department Releases More Information on Last Night’s Assault in McKinleyville

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

(See earlier story here.)

Humboldt COunty sheriff badgeOn Sunday, October 30, 2016 at about 6:30 p.m. Humboldt County Deputies responded to the 1500 block of City Center Rd in McKinleyville for a report of a physical altercation in progress. Upon arrival, Deputies observed a male lying face down and bystanders/witnesses nearby. Deputies also contacted the 62 year old male victim who was being treated by medical personnel. He was asked to remain on scene while deputies contacted the male lying down. The male lying down was identified as 46 year old Scott Crane of McKinleyville. Deputies discovered Crane had assaulted the victim, causing minor injuries. While deputies were interviewing Crane, the victim left in the ambulance. Deputies spoke with witnesses on scene and confirmed Crane was the aggressor during this incident. Due to the victim not staying for a statement, Crane was medically cleared/questioned and released on scene.

Deputies later interviewed the 62 year old victim at a local hospital, who wished to pursue assault charges against Crain. A misdemeanor arrest warrant for Crane has been requested through the District Attorney’s Office.

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539.

Yep, that is how leos are trained……deflect guilt onto the real victims in society all for politics……

I get it. There’s no room in the jail. Why can’t they put up some kind of minimum security camp (nuthin fancy) or tent city, somewhere. More or less adult babysitting with a chain link fence. “CAMP TIME OUT” For habitual trouble makers, to protect society. It would make room in the jail for violent offenders. I fear citizens will start taking the law into their own hands through vigilante justice. Which will spell disaster for all concerned.

There is something wrong with vigilante justice? Especially when crap like this is seemingly on the increase?

Reads like insiders got embarrassed by blogger insights on the original story……ambulance on-site, but deputy fails to get a witness statement from a conscious victim on-site first……before ambulance leaves.

The HCSO press releases are a joke and make the leos look really, really dumb…….as opposed to just “dumb”.

Keep making leos look dumb folks, that is why they come back with more versions after the failure of their original press release of misinformation.

Can’t imagine the sloppiness by leos in homicide reporting….
