Driver Flees Traffic Stop Leaving Two Firearms, etc.
This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at about 8:25 p.m. a Humboldt County Deputy Sheriff and his K-9 conducted a traffic stop on Trinity Acres Rd in Willow Creek. When the vehicle stopped, the driver took off on foot. The Deputy along with his K-9, contacted three passengers and did not pursue the driver at this time. The Deputy determined there was marijuana in the vehicle and conducted a search. The Deputy located two firearms, approximately 39 grams of heroin, 1.2 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 1 lb of marijuana, and ammunition of various calibers.
During the investigation the Deputy determined the driver to be 35 year old Cody Benjamin Sides. Sides has two felony warrants out for his arrest and is on several grants of probation. This investigation is ongoing.
