[UPDATE 10:30 p.m.] Vehicle Accident Near Bell Springs Road
A vehicle was reported over the edge of the road at approximately 9:20 p.m. The accident is on off of Bell Springs Road about one mile off Alderpoint Road, according to traffic on the scanner. In addition to the normal emergency crews, including Alderpoint Fire, Southern Humboldt Technical Rescue has been asked to head to the scene. Their presence can mean a rope rescue might be needed. Garberville Fire has been requested for “extrication equipment.”
UPDATE 9:40 p.m.: The update from personnel at scene states that the vehicle is not over the edge. However, the patient will have to be packed out 3/4 of a mile. The patient has “severe face trauma” and a possible broken arm. And may have other injuries as they are still being assessed.
UPDATE 10 p.m.: The patient has been “packaged”–prepared for transport and will now be hiked out to the ambulance.
UPDATE 10:30 p.m.: According to scanner traffic the Mazda pickup received damage when it rolled over. A person at the scene stated that the patient ejected about half way down the embankment.
UPDATE 10:34 p.m.: The patient is being taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka.

So private driveway or road?
It is difficult to be sure what is going on from scanner traffic alone but the accident appears to have been on a private road.
Thanks
Nice job rescue team!!!what would we.do without them.were lucky to have them.thank you
No mention of the type of vehicle?
Updated with the information it was a Mazda pickup.
Ejected virtually always means failure to wear a seatbelt. And facial trauma is what happens when your head is forced through two layers of windshield glass in the process of being ejected because you didn’t wear your seatbelt. While I don’t think it should be legally required to wear one, I do think you’re a fucking moron if you don’t. And yet after all these accidents, people still drive around without theirs on…
