Mad River Man Dies in Single Vehicle Accident on Hwy 36

Press release from the California Highway Patrol:

On 10/04/2016 at approximately 10:30 A.M., Trinity River CHP Officers were dispatched to a solo vehicle down an embankment on SR-36 at mile marker 33.65 with Caltrans and possibly family members on scene.  The Northern Division Helicopter, H-14, arrived on scene shortly after the initial dispatch and located a 2004 blue Jeep four door vehicle down the embankment and what appeared to be a male subject approximately 40 feet further down from the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation has revealed for an unknown reason the driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway down an embankment.  Officers are still on scene investigating the cause of the collision.  When further information comes available, it will be released.

I hate driving 36. Way too many people think they are better at driving at higher-than-posted speeds and still being safe to themselves and other drivers. SLOW THE F… DOWN!

Remember the State highway milepost markers start over in each county. this was milepost 33.65 in TRINITY county, way out near hwy. 3 close to Hayfork, not the milepost 33 in Humboldt county…
