Why Are Humboldt Bay Fire’s Flags at Half Staff?

Humboldt Bay Fire is flying their flags at half-staff in honor of a Ventura County firefighter who was killed in the line of duty on September 21, 2016. Ventura County Fire Engineer Ryan Osler died from injuries sustained in a fire apparatus crash while it was enroute to the Canyon Fire near Lompoc, California.

Two Firefighters were in the vehicle when it crashed. The passenger (Engineer Osler) was killed, while the driver suffered minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation by authorities. Engineer Osler was an 18 year veteran of the fire service. He was 38 years old and is survived by his wife and two children. Our condolences go out to his family, friends, and co-workers.
