Fire Restrictions Lifted in Six Rivers National Forest
Due to cooler temperatures, shorter days and higher humidity, Six Rivers National Forest Supervisor Merv George Jr. announced today that fire restrictions will be lifted on the forest as of Friday, September 23, 2016.
This means that forest visitors may once again have open campfires outside of designated campgrounds provided they are in possession of a valid California campfire permit, which is free from any U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, or California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) office. You may also obtain a California campfire permit online at www.preventwildfireca.org.
“Lifting these restrictions does not mean fire season is over. High fire danger could still occur, particularly if windy conditions prevail,” said George, who wants to encourage everyone to be careful with fire while visiting the forest.
Although the Six Rivers has lifted its fire restrictions, other area national forests, the Mendocino, Shasta-Trinity and Klamath (including the Ukonom ranger district), continue to have their restrictions in place. CalFire’s statewide burn ban also remains in effect. Please contact your local U.S. Forest Service or CalFire office for more information.

Let’s hope its over, but don’t let down your guard. And the numbnuts that flick the butt out the window on 299 (or anywhere), get a grip.
Sure wish they would wait a few more weeks.
