[UPDATE 11:47 a.m.] Body Found in Eel River; Detectives Called

The body of a male was discovered at least partially submerged in the Eel River near the Bear Canyon Bridge near Garberville, confirmed Sgt. Jesse Taylor of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. About 5:30 p.m. yesterday, law enforcement responded to a report of a man in the water and soon discovered the man was deceased. The body was “somewhat decomposed,” Taylor explained. The death occurred “at least a few days ago.”

At this time, it hasn’t been determined whether a crime was committed or not. “Due to some of the injuries on the deceased, detectives were called out and a search warrant was obtained,” Taylor said. Then he went on to explain that the cliffs are quite steep near there. “It could be just a fall.”

I’m so glad our Supervisor Estelle and Sherrif Mike are addressing the problems here in So Hum. Since this is a brand new problem I’m sure they have solid plan they’ll institute any day now.

Even if it is a fall that wouldn’t rule out a homicide. Perhaps vigilanteeism I would certainly look for a connection or the possibility there of the woman killed in Redway .

Don’t give in to the fear. Man has always done harm to man. This is nothing new. There are just many more men and we are better informed.

It has certainly been a shit show in G-town. I live behind the T-bookstore in the north end of town. Fighting in the streets woke me several times Sunday evening. This deceased person may have been a fatality of a transient turf war that has been raging. I hear them fighting plenty of nights lately. Prayers to the families.

Yes, he came here to work in a garden. When that didn’t work out he got off his a** and got a job. He did not hang out on the street panhandling. He said he had kids to support. In the short time we knew him we found him to be respectful, hardworking, clean, intelligent, and helpful. He was a handsome and articulate young man. He did not deserve to die in such a violent manor! Josh leaves behind a fiancée Mckenzie, 3 children Autumn, Lexus, & Ryker, a sister Emily, a brother Zachary, and his parents Ed and Sue. People who are in excruciating pain right now. Please remember that when you are posting. Heaven forbid something like this should happen to someone you love or care about. Prayers to his family and friends in this most difficult time. May God rest his soul.
Donations for Josh’s final expenses to help get him home are being accepted at Bon Bistro in Garberville

Once again, thank you Cindy, you have, once again, restored my faith in “woman/mankind”. As far as the rest of you, I can shed some light as to what happened. A week before he passed he had called me and told me that he was struggling with some issues; and yes, he was dealing with some addiction issues. Josh went from, what most of us contend with; simple ,alcohol/nicotine to pain meds and eventually heroin addiction. Josh was, as Cindy mentioned a good person with bad luck. Josh would give you the shirt off his back, regardless whether he needed one or not. He was a happy-go-lucky guy, but he could not deal with life on life’s terms without the use of some sort of “medication”. For those of you on the outside looking in, it is called “addiction” and my son was an addict. How he passed is neither here nor there, he is gone and nothing is going to bring him back. Life is too short so live every minute as if it were your last.
