[UPDATE 2:22 p.m.] Structure Fire Spreading to Wildland

Fire crews are on scene of a structure fire in the China Creek area west of Redway. The structure is completely “engulfed,” according to the incident commander. The fire is spreading into the wildland slowly, according to Cal Fire aircraft.

This fire was originally reported as being in the Blue Slide area but now all resources are being directed up the China Creek fork.

UPDATE 1:18 p.m.: There are structures to the east which might be threatened, according to a pilot.

UPDATE 1:55 p.m.: Cal Fire tweeted, “China Fire in So. Hum is checked by aircraft retardant. Structure fully involved. Ground units arriving at scene.”

UPDATE 1:56 p.m.: The crews are getting a handle on this. The incident commander via scanner traffic is sending back all resources not yet on scene except for one water tender.

UPDATE 2:22 p.m. We’ve got a line around it. We’re working to increase containment,” reports the incident commander.
UPDATE 6:40 p.m.: Final rundown: “The China Fire held at 1/4 acre…In mop up,” tweeted Cal Fire.
