The people from Clearlake can’t seem to catch a break. It’s been non-stop fires for the past couple years.

Lake County Air Quality throttles the “Burn Permits” to kow-tow to the Tourist Trade and Realtors, aka the Lake Chamber of Commerce. They advertise themselves as having the “cleanest air in California.” Consequently, so few burn permits are issued, and so few burn days are called, that the fuel loads build up to max, like now. To boot, Lake burn permits cost $25; not really an incentive to get them or the cursory education that comes with them. af

My daughter just drove through on her way to Redding. She says “It’s out, one-way traffic is in place through the “Mop Up” action. Thank Goodness! af
