Shane Robert Casey: Forever in Our Hearts

This section includes both obituaries and memories. Honoring our loved ones who have died does not end immediately after their passing. We recognize that… so we’re extending our obituary section to include individuals who may have left a long time ago. If you want to remember someone who is gone, either recently or longer ago, please send a photo and a few sentences to mskymkemp@gmail.com. Tell us why you would like to honor the person–is it their birthday, the date of their passing or some other date of significance to you.

  • Shane was one of my very best friends while he and his family lived here in Southern Humboldt. We were in highschool at Whale Gulch together. He was an incredible artist. Loved to play the drums and jam music with the guys. When he wasnt surfing he was roosting around the backroads and drawing amazing pieces. Heck of a personality, always making everyone laugh. It had been several years since i had seen him, he had moved back down south, when our mutual friend arrived to deliver the news our friend had passed. I hold tight to the memories, and the few amazing drawings he did for me,even a portrait he drew of me as a fairy woman. Love you Shane, see you on the otherside.

I remember Shane. Always a smile on his face and that crazy, genuine laugh. He joined us out at whale gulch high and immediately was part of the gang. He could nollie his board almost as high as he was tall. Fond memories of that guy, I couldn’t believe when I heard the devastating news. I’ll remember his grin always.
