The Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services Mobile Outreach team is joining local agencies for an event in Hoopa. The effort is in response to the community’s reduced access to resources following the closure of the Hoopa Ray’s Food Place last month.

The Mobile Outreach vehicle will set up in the former supermarket’s parking lot on Wednesday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mobile Outreach will join staff from the UC Cooperative Extension Master Food Preserver program. There will be demonstrations about food canning, dehydration and other preservation techniques. Food for People will be on location distributing farm fresh produce.

Mobile Outreach vehicles bring DHHS services and supports to outlying communities, to reduce the need to travel to Eureka for health and human services. Staff provide a range of services depending on community need and can assist with CalFresh, Medi-Cal, In-Home Supportive Services, veterans services and child support. Humboldt County mental health clinicians can also provide on-board counseling and link clients up with case management.

    Union is optional since june 2014.
    All live in providers qualify for 2014-7 exempt status, and need to take action. File new w4 exempt and never enter live in income on wages earned income on tax returns.
