Deja Vu? Man Sought for Attempted Homicide Today Was Wanted in 2008 for Same Charge!
A man sought by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office today for attempted murder was the subject of a search in 2008 for the same charge. Deputies are searching for Cody Lee Meyers for allegedly stabbing a 50-year-old man in Hoopa about 11:30 this morning. Meyers is believed to have used a “sharp cutting instrument, something like a machete,” according to Lt. Wayne Hanson.
“The victim is in serious but so far stable condition,” Hanson explained.
In December of 2008, the Sheriff’s Office was also pursuing Meyers for attempted murder. According to this Humboldt Sentinel article,
An attempted murder on Sunday night has the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office hot on the trail of a Loleta man in an attack that may have been racially motivated.
Just after 7:00 p.m. last night, HCSO deputies were called to a residence on Weott Drive in Loleta for a reported assault, and upon arrival, they found Eliseo Alvarado Lopez, 39, bleeding from a head injury and an injury to his chest. Lopez was being treated by emergency medical personnel on scene when the officers arrived, and he was later transported to a local hospital to mend injuries that included fractured orbital bones.
In their investigation, deputies received reports that Cody Lee Meyers, 21, had struck Lopez in the head and chest with a golf club, and was making racial slurs towards Lopez prior to the attack.
Meyers was eventually captured. At this time, we don’t have information on the outcome of that trial but because of an arrest last August which shows up in Lost Coast Outpost’s Booked, we know he was sent to prison for an offense and later paroled (probably after 2013.) At the time of the August 2015 arrest, Meyers was charged with violating parole and assault among other crimes.
Meyers is a 6’2′, Native American male age 29. In 2008, he had a tattoo of the word, “Heather” on his left arm. At this time a mugshot isn’t available. [Mugshot added] However, please contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 if you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Meyers.
