One Dead After Fire in Klamath This Morning

Structure fire featureOne person and several animals have died in an early morning fire that destroyed one building. Firefighters received a call at 4:15 this morning for a structure fire on Weber Drive in Klamath.

CAL FIRE, Crescent City Fire, Crescent Fire District, Del Norte Sheriff Department, and Del Norte Ambulance responded.

“When units arrived there was one fully involved residential structure spreading to an adjacent structure,” reports Laura Coleman, spokesperson for Cal Fire. “The first structure was completely destroyed however the Firefighters were able to save the second structure with little damage.  During the firefight responders found one human body and animals that were deceased.”

Another victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital with burns.  The cause of the fire is under investigation by CAL FIRE and Del Norte Sheriff Department.

Several fires have started in Klamath in the last few days. Here is a rough map showing the areas of the fires. The two structure fires were within a block of each other. Today’s vegetation fire was less than five miles from the two structures.

So many house fires in the last few weeks with fatalities, even in santa rosa. are there any causes identified yet? Faulty propane lines? The fires all seem to have spread very quickly
