[UPDATE 11:07 p.m.] Gunshot Victim in Rio Dell

A shooting has closed Berkeley Street in Rio Dell between First Avenue and Wildwood Avenue. The suspect has fled the vicinity in a vehicle, according to scanner traffic.

The victim, a 33-year-old male, is being taken to the hospital with a “through and through” gunshot wound, according to traffic on the scanner.

The call first came into emergency personnel about 7:05 p.m.

Caution: This is breaking news and details are just coming in.

UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: We’re being told that fire emergency crews have left the area.

UPDATE 7:50 p.m.: An update tells us that the incident occurred on the 300 block of First Avenue in Rio Dell.

UPDATE 8:07 p.m.: Scanner traffic just stated that a male is “being transported from 315 First Avenue.”

UPDATE 11:07 p.m.: According to scanner traffic, the “victim” in the hospital has just been taken into custody.

Per capita stats do not account for all factors that attribute to more densely populated areas having higher rates of crime.

Any death at the hands of another is a homicide. It’s whether or not it’s was a “justifiable homicide” is always the question

No one is dead. He was shot in the leg inside the house he was stealing from. He was treated and then went to jail. Thieves should not mistake elderly people for easy targets. Not always the case.
