Former Operations Manager for KMUD, Dave Myers, Drowned This Weekend

Dave Myers, a former Operations Manager for KMUD from 2002 to 2006, was found deceased Sunday, June 19 on Lieutenant Island near Wellfleet, MA. The cause of death, according to an online news source, was drowning.

The Wellfleet Police department said that a body was discovered about 12:34 Sunday afternoon by a person walking on the beach.

Myers, age 47, had been living in Eastham, MA and working for a radio station in the area. According to another account, “A massive search for Myers began Friday morning, after it was reported that a man had left his belongs on South Sunken Meadow Beach in Eastham on Thursday evening to take a swim, and never returned.”

Wow, very sorry to hear of his passing. I worked with him at KMUD for several years back in the early 2000’s. He was a great person and will truly be missed.

He was a very sweet man. He was one of my favorite people. I worked with him for several years at KMUD. We stayed in touch after he left KMUD. I wrote a few letters of recommendation for him when he was applying for jobs in MA. I loved him. I pray for his family, his children. It makes me so sad that they have to grow up without him. SO SAD!

So sad to read of the loss of his life. May his family and friends be comforted in their grief and thankful his body was not lost to the sea.

Dave was a bright, energetic, loving sole. He always impressed me with his positive attitude. He treated me, and I’d imagine all, like a truly good, loved friend. KMUD has never since seen the likes of anyone of his bright persona. Very sad news. Condolences to his family.

I loved Dave, such a positive guy. He invited me to help with KMUD’s Ice Coffee Booth, and I was hooked on his projects.
The first time we met was before he actually went to work for KMUD. My friend Mark brought him to my house, and we started talking radio, and specifically “Pacifica” radio, and he said he was applying for the KMUD job, and I was all excited and gushed on and on about KMUD. He must have thought I was weirdo, but he likes weirdo’s, and I counted him a close friend from that day on.
I’m so sad. So young…..

Dave was one of the nicest! A fellow New Englander, we gave him a copy of Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick when he moved to Cape Cod with his family. What a tragic loss! We are deeply saddened by this news.

Thank you for that wonderful book Mayflower, which we both read before embarking on the reverse pilgrimage to Cape Cod in 2006. Our children Sam & Rose are direct descendants of Gov. Bradford, so it was a wonderfully appropriate gesture for multiple reasons. Emma

Awe, Emma, I am glad that you both read that book and to think your kids are descendants of Governor Bradford is heartwarming. All our best to your family!

I have a brother named Dave, a fisherman, who also lives in Eastham not far from the beach. My brother did not know Dave M. personally but did know him from the community on Cape Cod – a big loss. Peace.

Very sad indeed, my condolences to his children and large family. I am friends with his aunt and am shocked to hear of his passing. I worked with him at WOMR in Provincetown and was super glad to meet him – my friend’s handsome and friendly nephew newly arrived from the West Coast.
His son would be there after school and even contributed hours to the station.
RIP dave.

Yes, Sam had a show called, “Singing with Sam” during the Saturday morning kids’ rotation on WOMR — one of my fondest memories are of the two of them putting ‘OMR over the top during the pledge drive with over $3,000 in calls. Sam’s theme song was “Come in the Morning” by Moby Grape. Sam used to come in during Billboard Bob’s pledge drive shows on Thursday night and get the phones ringing. In May he finished his first year studying at Olin College of Engineering in Needham, and he is interning at Black Duck Software this summer. He and his sister Rose are grateful for the condolences and messages of love after the passing of their wonderful Dad, found on Father’s Day. Emma
