[UPDATE 10:59 p.m.] Tree Blocking Mattole Road

A maple tree fell across the Mattole Road about 15 minutes west of Hwy 101, according to the reporting party as relayed on the scanner. Although it is only 8 to 10 inches in diameter, it is completely blocking the road as of 9:40 p.m.

UPDATE 10 p.m.: According to scanner traffic, someone (possibly a CHP officer) is running a chainsaw so hopefully the road will open relatively soon.
