Fields Landing Shooter Arrested, Says Sheriff’s Office

On Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at about 8:45 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired at the 6700 block of Harrison Avenue in Fields Landing. It was reported that a male suspect was in the street with a handgun and had shot at another male subject. Upon arrival, deputies detained several possibly involved subjects and located several possible witnesses. During this time, the firearm used during the shooting was located in a nearby residence. Based on the investigation conducted on scene, deputies arrested the 36 year old male suspect Stephen James Simpson.
Simpson was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for exhibiting a firearm, willfully discharging a firearm, and an outstanding warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $25,000. No one was injured as a result of the shooting.
