Fire Near Old Briceland Road

A fire near Briceland is “contained and controlled” as of 4:40 p.m., according to the incident commander on the scanner.

The first reports came in about 4:11 p.m. and stated the fire was near Greta Lane. Multiple fire crews were dispatched to the scene. However, the fire was quickly extinguished and as of 4:43 p.m. is being mopped up. The commander says that he expects to be finished by about 5:10 p.m.

UPDATE 4:47 p.m.: The commander reports the fire burned approximately 1/3 acre.

UPDATE 5:14 p.m.: We’re being told by a firefighter that the CHP map is incorrect (so we deleted it.) The fire was instead on Old Briceland Road near Connick Creek by the airport. Firefighters have left the scene.
