Watch Out! Trinity River Flow to Increase Sharply
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public of the dangers of the Trinity River now that the Lewiston Dam will be releasing into the Trinity River. The increased release of water from the Lewiston Dam began on Thursday, April 21, 2016 and is expected to continue this increased release rate until August 2, 2016. Water releases are expected to increase significantly on Friday, April 29, 2016, and will reach 10,000 cubic feet per second on Monday, May 9th through May 10th. This means 74,800 gallons of water will be released per second, 4,488,000 gallons per minute, 269,300,000 gallons per hour, and 6,463,000,000 gallons per day.
Please take extra caution when in the Trinity River during this time. The Trinity River will be even more dangerous to swimmers and boaters.
